Competency Description

This competency refers to the ability to fulfil the contractual obligations arising from derivatives dealing in a timely and accurate manner and in adherence to derivatives clearing and settlement rules, regulations and procedures. The scope includes cash settlement or delivery settlement.

Level 1 - Awareness

• Identify the relevant rules and regulations for derivatives settlement.
Level 2 - Knowledge

• Differentiate the obligation and rights between counterparties.
• Identify margin required for settlement.
• Outline the process and procedures for cash settlement or physical delivery.
Level 3 - Skill

• Ascertain the settlement obligations between counterparties.
• Process payment for cash settlement or arrange for physical delivery according to contract specifications and/or client's instruction.
• Monitor and reconcile the completion of the derivatives settlements.
Level 4 - Mastery

• Review trading patterns and position limits to determine client's ability to meet settlement obligations.
